Silent Auction Raises Funds to Support Women and Children in Woollahra

Last week, the Woollahra Municipal Council Gallery hosted a silent auction featuring a remarkable community artwork titled Apples of Perseverance. This meaningful piece was created by artists Melanie Booth and Bridget Stehli in collaboration with members of the local community and incorporated 25 years of archived fabric generously donated by renowned Australian designer Lee Mathews.

The auction was held in support of the Women’s Housing Company, with all funds raised going directly toward our work helping women and children escaping domestic violence. Thanks to the generosity of those involved, we are now able to support 10 women and their children to remain safely housed within the Woollahra Local Government Area. This initiative enables children to stay in their schools and families to remain connected to vital support networks—ensuring stability during a time of transition.

We extend our heartfelt thanks to Woollahra Council, artists Melanie Booth and Bridget Stehli, Lee Mathews, and the wider community who contributed to this inspiring event. Special recognition goes to Amanda and Kevin Skelton, the winning bidders, for their generous support and shared commitment to making a difference.

Thank you to everyone who helped make this event a success.
