Measuring What Matters: Impact Report Shows Lasting Change

The Women’s Housing Company has released its latest impact report, highlighting the powerful outcomes achieved through its recent empowerment program designed to support women experiencing housing insecurity and complex life challenges,

The report shows clear and consistent improvements across all measured outcome areas, with particularly strong gains in confidence, personal agency and social connection. These outcomes reflect not only increased skills and readiness for future opportunities, but also deeper, more meaningful shifts in how participants view themselves and their capacity to shape their own lives.

Impact was assessed using a trauma-informed evaluation approach, combining attendance and completion data, participant surveys at different stages of the program, and written reflections from facilitators. Eight participants completed both baseline and final surveys, providing a valuable insight into change over time. Surveys were voluntary, supporting honest reflection, and findings aligned closely with facilitator observations and participant feedback.

While baseline and final surveys used different question phrasing to reflect participants’ stage of engagement, responses were mapped into consistent outcome domains. This approach enabled meaningful comparison while respecting the realities of working with women who may be at different points in their recovery, confidence and readiness to engage.

Results showed consistent positive movement across all domains, with the most significant shifts seen in confidence, agency and social connection. These outcomes are critical foundations for longer-term goals such as employment, education, community participation and sustained wellbeing.

Importantly, the report reinforces that progress is not always linear and that creating safe, supportive environments where women feel seen, heard and valued is central to achieving lasting impact. By prioritising trust, choice and participant voice, the program enabled women to reconnect with their strengths and rebuild belief in what is possible for their futures.

The Women’s Housing Company extends its sincere thanks to partners and funders George and Jaqui Maree Stamas whose support made this work possible. Their investment continues to create pathways for women to move beyond crisis and towards lives defined by stability, connection and opportunity.
