Building Connections Over Dumplings

At Women’s Housing Company, we believe that genuine relationships between staff and tenants are the foundation of trust, wellbeing, and housing stability. When we come together, we reduce othering, strengthen community, and create spaces where women feel heard, valued, and connected.

This week, our Chinese speaking team members joined our newly formed Chinese-speaking social group for a dumpling-making session. This initiative was led by one of our social work students from Western Sydney University, whose placement project has brought together women who may have felt isolated due to language barriers and helped them feel part of the WHC community.

Whilst sat around the table, women laughed, shared stories, and built connections that support wellbeing and long-term housing stability. Our staff also gained a deeper understanding of the incredible strengths within this community.

Small moments can have a big impact. At WHC, we are committed to creating more opportunities for women to connect, share, and thrive.
