Bridge Housing and the Women’s Housing Company completed 90 Neighbourhood Q&As over the past four months to engage with our new Northern Beaches tenants.
Since early December when the first sessions began, we have:
Many thanks to the SHMT team who have worked tirelessly to get to know our new tenants, to understand their needs and to communicate vital information about the transition process. The feedback we received from tenants provided useful data and insights to both organisations and will enable us to continually refine our tenant engagement processes.
Neighbourhood Q & A Sessions - December 2018 to March 2019
From August 2019, Bridge Housing, in partnership with the Women’s Housing Company will manage some 1,200 social housing tenancies on the Northern Beaches on behalf of the NSW Department of Family and Community Services.
If you are a FACS tenant in this area, we will help you to make a smooth transition to becoming a Bridge Housing or Women’s Housing Company tenant.
Will I be a Bridge Housing or Women's Housing Company tenant?
- The Women’s Housing Company will manage all tenancies in Mosman and some tenancies in Dee Why and Narraweena.
- Bridge Housing will manage most tenancies in Dee Why and Narraweena and all tenancies in other Northern Beaches suburbs.
- If you live in Dee Why or Narraweena, you will have received a letter from us confirming whether Bridge Housing or Women's Housing Company will manage your tenancy.
- If you live in a block of units or villa, all tenancies in your block will be managed by the same provider.

Announcement – October 2017
The Women’s Housing Company, in partnership with Bridge Housing, has been awarded the competitive tender to manage the Northern Beaches public housing portfolio on behalf of the NSW Government for the next 20 years, under the Social Housing Management Transfer Program, a key initiative under the NSW Government’s Future Directions policy. Nine separate portfolios, representing 14,000 public housing properties across New South Wales will be transferred to the management of community housing providers during 2018 and 2019.
The Northern Beaches portfolio comprises 1,201 homes and stretches from Mosman to Warriewood. The property portfolio comprises houses, townhouses and units, with over 70% of the properties being one-bedroom units or studios. 75% of the Northern Beaches households are single person and about 50% of tenants are women.
The transition of these properties to the Women’s Housing Company and Bridge Housing management from the NSW Department of Family and Community Services will be completed by August 2019. Together, we will assume all housing customer service functions – allocations, tenancy and maintenance – previously delivered by the Department of Family and Community Services in the Northern Beaches area.
The Women’s Housing Company will manage 12.5% of the portfolio, or some 150 homes, and Bridge Housing will manage 87.5% of the portfolio, or around 1,050 homes. We will work closely to identify which properties are most suitably managed by each organisation.
The Women’s Housing Company and Bridge Housing will keep new and existing tenants informed as information about the transition process becomes available.
We will be starting to get to know the Northern Beaches community in 2018. Watch this page for updates on tenant meetings.
